WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU REGISTER
WHAT EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED?
Students should know how to read music on the staff and have been in piano lessons for at least one year.
HOW ARE STUDENTS BROKEN INTO GROUPS?
Students will be placed in a group with six students total based on and age and ability level. Groups will rotate through private lessons, ensemble lessons, music theory, music history, and supervised practice time.
HOW MUCH ONE-ON-ONE INSTRUCTION WILL EACH STUDENT RECEIVE?
Each day, students will have 20-minute private lessons, 20-minute ensemble lessons (with one other student, as we’re focusing on piano duos this year), and they will have access to a teacher during supervised practice time. Music history and theory classes will be a 6:1 student ratio.
WHAT DOES MY STUDENT NEED TO PREPARE BEFORE CAMP BEGINS?
Students should come with a solo piano piece they would like to work on to perform memorized on the fourth day of camp. We will also send out a PDF of a piano duo piece one month prior to camp that students should be able to play by the time they come to camp. They will work on putting this piece together with their piano duo partner during the week.
IS LUNCH PROVIDED?
No. Students need to bring their own lunch every day (and it must not require refrigeration). We will not be providing snacks due to allergies/restrictions, so students should bring their own snack, as well. Water bottles are also recommended.
