What is St. Cecilia Music Center?

St. Cecilia Music Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. The landmark historic venue includes the 600-seat Royce Auditorium and several smaller event spaces. In addition to presenting world-class musicians on the stage, SCMC has a robust School of Music and provides music education opportunities for all ages.

Are you a church?

No. St. Cecilia does not have any religious affiliation. When founded in 1883, the organization was named after the patron saint of music, St. Cecilia.

Is there a Lost + Found?

Yes. If you’ve left behind something while attending an event, you may contact Event and Facility Director Carla Messing at 616.459.2224 x204 or carla@scmc-online.org to check if we have it.

What are your hours of operation?

The Box Office and Administrative Office hours are Monday-Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm. On concert days, the building opens at 12pm. Currently, due to COVID-19 restrictions, SCMC’s staff is working remotely much of the time and office hours are limited. To make an appointment to visit the building for a specific purpose, please contact the appropriate staff member.

TICKETS

How do I get tickets to a concert?

Tickets to all performances presented by SCMC can be purchased on the Concerts + Events page. You may also call our Box Office @ 616.459.2224 x201 to purchase tickets over the phone.

I want to purchase tickets but don't see the event on your website.

SCMC only sells tickets to its own Presenting Series and events. If you’re looking for tickets to an event by another organization (i.e. Grand Rapids Symphony, Opera Grand Rapids, Kent Philharmonic Orchestra), you will need to contact that organization directly to purchase tickets.

What happens if I lose my ticket?

We are happy to issue replacement tickets. Please call our Box Office at 616.459.2224 x201 or email Box Office Manager Kelly Herremans at kelly@scmc-online.org.

What happens if an event is postponed or cancelled?

All tickets will be honored for a postponed event. If an event is cancelled, refunds will be issued automatically via the original method of payment. If you would like to donate the value of your tickets back to SCMC in lieu of a refund, please communicate that with the Box Office (616.459.2224 x201 or kelly@scmc-online.org) and you will receive a tax receipt in the mail.

What is the refund policy for tickets?

All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges are permitted unless due to cancellation.

How do I pick up my tickets at Will Call?

Tickets may be picked up at the Box Office beginning at 5:30pm on concert evenings. If someone else will be picking up your tickets, please contact the Box Office to make that change. (616.459.2224 x201 or kelly@scmc-online.org)

Do you have a student ticket rate?

Yes! Students may purchase tickets to any of SCMC’s performances for $10. These tickets must be purchased in person at our Box Office and you must present a current student ID.

CONCERT NIGHTS

What time do the doors open?

SCMC’s building is open to patrons two hours prior to the concert start time. The doors the auditorium will open 30 minutes before the performance begins.

Where can I park?

SCMC’s parking lot offers 50 parking spaces on a first come, first served basis two hours before the start of an event. Should our lot be full when your arrive, we suggest one of the options detailed here.

Do you recommend any restaurants in the area?

Yes! There are several great restaurants within walking distance. They tend to get busy on concert nights, so call ahead to make a reservation!

Can I take photos or videos of a performance?

No. Please do not take photos or record while musicians are performing on stage.

Is food or drink allowed in the auditorium?

Besides water, eating and drinking is prohibited in Royce Auditorium.

Is there a coat check?

No. However, we do have open coat racks (located in the Wege Recital Hall) that you are welcome to use.

I need an accessible entrance. Where do I go?

We have an accessible entrance on the north end of our venue – to the left of the main entrance if you’re facing the building. Once inside, you’ll go down the hallway a bit and then enter the main floor of the building via an elevator to your right.

DONATIONS

How do I make a donation to St. Cecilia Music Center?

St. Cecilia Music Center is committed to bringing great music to the community in an affordable way. In fact, ticket sales only cover 50% of what it costs to bring a musician to the stage. Donations cover the difference. Tax-deductible gifts can be made here. Can I donate my piano to St. Cecilia Music Center?

We do not accept piano donations.
