When participating in one of SCMC’s School of Music ensembles, there can be a lot of information to keep track of. On this page, you should find everything you need to ensure you stay organized and informed throughout the year. Auditions are required for youth ensembles. Students are placed according to their musical level and advance as their skills improve. Current students wishing to move up to the next ensemble level must audition and register for a spot in either June or September. If a student desires to move up between semesters, the student must be in the first or second chair place in January. If a student takes a semester off from ensembles, he or she must audition again to return to his or her current ensemble or to move up.
REGISTRATION FOR RETURNING STUDENTS
Registration for the 2019-20 school year will open on the following days:

If the previous season’s tuition has not been paid in full by August 31, students must make arrangements with the education director before registering.
PLEASE NOTE: Membership in a School of Music ensemble requires that students are involved in their school orchestra or band and must have a signed recommendation form from their school orchestra or band director (the form will be supplied after acceptance into an ensemble). Exceptions to this will be made ONLY if there is no existing orchestra or band program at the school or if there is a direct conflict in scheduling between a required academic course and the school music program.
Checks made out to SCMC, cash, money order, Visa, Mastercard or Discover are accepted. A $10 fee will be charged for returned checks. Monthly or quarterly payment plans may be arranged through the education director. Online payment is also available through the PARENT PORTAL.
Limited financial aid is available to students who demonstrate a financial need. To apply, please print out the form below and return it to the education office with the required $25 deposit. SCMC reserves the right to discontinue any financial aid award because of frequent absences or tardiness, or because of delinquent payments.
ENSEMBLE DROP + REFUND POLICY
Students dropping the program after the 2nd week of rehearsals or before the mid-semester deadline (Fall: November 14; Spring: March 14) will receive a 50% refund for that semester if full tuition has been paid. Students dropping after mid-semester will not receive a refund. An email referencing the drop must be received by the deadline or the full tuition will be due.
