SCMC School of Music provides life-enriching and educational opportunities for adult amateur musicians of varying abilities to enjoy the experience of making music in an ensemble setting. There is a place for everyone—even those who recently took up an instrument. Ensembles perform concerts at least twice each season in Royce Auditorium.  Each ensemble has a few outreach concerts throughout the year as well.

Grand Band encourages musicians of various skill levels to explore their musical talents and experience the joy of making music. The ensemble performs music in a variety of genres, including classical, Broadway and pop.

Cullen McCarthy, Conductor
Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 5:30–6:45pm

Grand String Orchestra welcomes violin, viola, cello and double bass players from near-beginner to intermediate level. The emphasis is on having fun and learning classical and popular music together in an informal and non-competitive atmosphere. While the group will focus on ensemble skills and on developing general musical and string skills in an ensemble setting, it is also an opportunity to meet other string players and make great music together.

Cyndi Betts, Conductor
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:15-6:45 pm

Auditions are not required for SCMC’s adult ensembles.
